Join the Roncalli Newman Center on a pilgrimage to France! The trip starts in Paris where we will get to know this amazing city- praying in its beautiful churches, eating its delicious food, and exploring its elegant streets.  Transferring to Normandy, we will visit Lisieux and pray at the tomb of St. Therese, walk along the D-Day beaches, and then visit Mont St. Michel. We will then transfer to Lourdes for the last two days

ITINERARY

Paris

Days 1-4: Discover the Notre Dame Cathedral I Visit St. Germain-des-Pres, St. Suplice, and Sacre Coeur I  Pray at the Miraculous Medal Shrine and tombs of St. Catherine Laboure and St. Vincent de Paul I Walk along the River Seine I Visits to the Louvre, Saint-Chapelle, and the exterior of the Eiffel Tower

    Normandy & Mont St. Michel

    Days 4-7: Transfer to Lisieux I Visit the house of St. Therese of Lisieux I Pray at the tombs of St. Therese and her parents SS. Louis and Zelie Martin I Visit the Omaha Beach (one of the D-Day landing sites) and the American cemetery in France I Transfer to Mont St. Michel, visit the Abbey church and museum, and hike in the bay

    Lourdes

    Day 7-10: Head to Lourdes I Pray at the grotto where the Virgin Mary appeared to St. Bernadette I Discover the places associated with the life of St. Bernadette and learn the story of the apparitions I Participate in the candlelight rosary procession in the evening and bottle up some Lourdes holy water to bring home to family and friends

    LODGING

    LEVEL: Standard (Upgrade to Superior available at additional cost)

     We stay mainly in the guest accommodations of religious houses (monasteries, convents, sanctuaries, etc.).  The culture and history of these places really adds to the character of our pilgrimage.  If you are interested in a single-room supplement, please contact us- we cannot guarantee its availability.  Air conditioner is generally not available.

    EATING

     We eat mainly at restaurants. Menus may be limited to fixed options or set menus. Some meals may be picnics.  Breakfasts provided are in the local style (typically not as hearty as American style). We can accommodate most food allergies.

    LUGGAGE

    You may bring any type of luggage with you on this trip.  This particular itinerary is not a backpack-only pilgrimage, but we do recommend a backpack.  We will provide a detailed packing list.

    PRAYING

    Prayer is at the heart of the pilgrimage.  Daily mass, the liturgy of the hours, the rosary, and other prayer opportunities are available throughout the pilgrimage.

    “Optional” means it is easy for you to skip the activity.  Skipping or modifying other routes may be possible but not in as easy of a manner. Activities are weather-dependent. Distances and durations may vary from the information given above

     

    ARRIVAL

    We will be organizing a group airline ticket, so please do not buy anything at present
    Airport: Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG)

    DEPARTURE

    Airport: Tarbes Lourdes Pyrenees (LDE) or Toulouse-Blagnac (TLS)
    Departure will be in the morning on the last day and you will arrive back into the US the same day.
    We will be organizing a group airline ticket, so please do not buy anything at present

    TRANSPORTATION

    We will be using a variety of transportation on this pilgrimage. A private coach will be utilized for at least part of the trip, but we may also hop on a train for some of our transfers depending on the amount of participants.

    INSURANCE

    Each pilgrim should have health insurance. We highly recommend purchasing traveler’s insurance as well.
