Join ALP for their second “pilgrimage retreat” this summer! Experience not only the sublimity and contemplation of a spiritual retreat and the beauty and grandeur of a wilderness retreat but also the life and leisure of catholic culture in towns and villages. It is a retreat for the whole person, body and soul, and is designed to give a taste of the fullness of a life ordered around the faith. It is perfect for those looking for a slower-paced, more relaxed trip with ample prayer opportunities and freedom to direct their days while still sharing the experience with others.

PRAIANO, ITALY
We will be based in the town of Praiano for the entire retreat where we will be staying in the parish’s pilgrim house. Praiano is a hillside town on the Amalfi Coast, between the more popular destinations of Amalfi and Positano. Besides a day in Amalfi and one in Positano, everyday will be spent in and around Praiano. The house has two levels with separate entrances which will be divided by gender. Each room has several bunk beds and the bathrooms are in the hallways of each floor.
PATRONAL FEASTS
St. Anthony of Padua & St. Vito of Positano
Unique to this trip is the opportunity to participate in the legendary “Patronal Feast Days” of the Amalfi Coast. Our stay will coincide with both the feast of St. Anthony of Padua and the feast of St. Vito of Positano. The celebration of St. Anthony in Amalfi and St. Vito in Positano typically include a large procession with a marching band, fireworks, prayers, and more! The festivities are truly incredible experiences and give an authentic taste of Catholic culture enduring through the centuries.

A time for friendship and fellowship
Most meals will be taken as a group and many will be made in-house. Each pilgrim will help at some point in the trip with grocery shopping, cooking, and cleaning. The house has a wonderful deck with views of the sea on which to eat . For many pilgrims of last year’s retreat, the time spent preparing the food and eating together was a highlight of the trip. Other meals will be taken in the piazza in front of the church prepared with outside help.

Details
Activity Level
Our lodging is in the upper part of Praiano, about 300ft above the main part of the town. There is a bus that goes between the two every hour. To get down to the sea, there is a bus that takes you to one of the beaches. The other beaches involve about 350ft elevation loss via stairs down from the main part of town.
Arrival
Naples International Airport (NAP) Staff will pick you up at the Airport. The official pilgrimage start time is 3:00p.m.- please arrive before then. If you arrive early, you will have time to explore Naples. For those arriving on train, you can meet us at the Naples Cathedral. Please wait for a trip confirmation to buy a plane ticket.
Departure
This pilgrimage will end back in Naples at the train station or the airport. The official end time is at 9:00a.m. on departure day, so please do not book your flight before then.
Transportation
We will be using a variety of transportation on this pilgrimage, both public and private.
Luggage
We recommend backpacks instead of suitcases. We will provide a detailed packing list.
Eligibility
Under 18 years old need to be accompanied by an adult in a separate lodging.
