Set off on the Camino de Santiago for the tomb of St. James in the footsteps of countless faithful walking this path since the 9th century with Fr. Christopher Iwancio. There are many paths all over Europe headed to Santiago- we will be walking on the “Camino Frances” (French Way), the most popular route, and enjoying a variety of scenery along the way. Good food, beautiful churches, and breathtaking landscape are sure to help make this an unforgettable experience for you!

ITINERARY
Madrid to Sarria
Days 1-8: Arrive in Madrid I Transfer to Astorga I Hike from Astorga to Rabanal del Camino to El Acebo de San Miguel to Foncebadon to Ponferrada to Villafranca del Bierzo to Las Herrerias to O Cebrerio to Triacastela to Sarria I Enjoy a regular rhythm of prayer, walking, and eating while soaking in the beautiful views of the countryside and exploring old towns, castles, and monasteries
Arzua to Santiago
Days 9-11: Skip a section via transport from Sarria to Arzua and get ready to walk the last 2 days into Santiago I Hiking into Santiago de Compostela, we will pass Lavacollo where pilgrims used wash themselves in the river in preparation for arriving at the tomb of St. James
Santiago de Compostela
Days 12-14: Arrive into Santiago and visit the beautiful cathedral I Spend some time in prayer at the tomb of St. James I Enjoy the whole next day in Santiago strolling through city and reflecting on your journey I Transfer back to Madrid and spend your last night thereI Fly out on the final morning

LUGGAGE TRANSFERS
Luggage transfers are included on this trip. You may bring a suitcase or a backpack in addition to the daypack you will be hiking with. We will provide a detailed packing list.

TRANSPORTATION
This pilgrimage will take place on foot. We may take a train from Madrid to Astorga. We will take private transport to Arzua. You are always free to take a taxi to skip hikes (costs not included)

Each pilgrim should have health insurance. We highly recommend purchasing traveler’s insurance as well.
